A visit by President George W. Bush to Little Rhody has been rumored for some time now. Today, the White House revealed some details of the President’s upcoming visit — which will be the first one to Rhode Island for him since he was elected President seven years ago. From the Providence Journal:
President Bush will be in Rhode Island this coming Thursday — his first visit to the state of his presidency — a White House spokesman confirmed for the first time today.
The spokesman would not say yet whether the president’s visit will be to the Naval War College in Newport — the location it’s been rumored he is going to visit.

Rhode Island Republican Party Chairman Giovanni Cicione is supporting Governor Carcieri’s announcement that he has been forced to make the very tough decision to lay-off more than a thousand state workers and freeze wages in an attempt to address the state’s protracted budget deficit problem.
“I salute this Governor for holding his ground, making a very tough decision and not running from the grim reality of this state’s very serious fiscal situation,” says Chairman Giovanni Cicione.
“The Democrat leaders in the General Assembly need a reality check right now and it’s time they start showing a little courage and urge the union bosses to stop the greedy demands that are breaking this state’s budget back.”

Thursday June 14 - RHODE ISLAND REPUBLICAN ASSEMBLY (Conservative GOP) Meeting - 6:30 P.M. - in the Banquet Room at Bickford’s Restaurant on Jefferson Blvd. in Warwick (Exit 15, off Rt. 95).
The RIRA is the R.I. affiliate of the National Federation of Republican Assemblies, a thoughtful organization of GOP conservatives working to grow and strengthen the Republican Party in the tradition of President Ronald Reagan.
This is a dinner meeting, and if you want to eat, you pay for your own meal. Any like-minded conservative Republican is welcome to attend and participate. There will be a free raffle for GOP prizes at the conclusion of the meeting.
